Tear supports projects run by partner organisations in Africa, Asia and Latin America, and offer people in the Netherlands opportunities to become involved in this work. These partner organisations of Tear work with a Christian conviction under the poorest of thepoor regardless of race, religion, gender, ethnic origin or political persuasion. Tear helps local churches (in the Netherlands and in the southern hemisphere) to work together in fighting poverty and injustice in sustainable ways, and we help them learn from each other while working together.

General
The Federal Government of Somalia has declared an emergency in areas where torrential deyr (October to December) rains, caused by El Niño, have triggered floods. The number of people impacted by the seasonal rains and floods across Somalia has increased to over 2.4 million, according to the Somalia Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), with over one million displaced and 110 killed in at least 36 districts. The UN has called it "once-in-a-century" floods, indicating the magnitude of the disaster. The rainshave resulted in significant flash floods, destruction or damage of shelters, roads, buildings, and bridges, and temporary displacement, mainly of internally displaced people in settlements. The Dutch Relief Alliance is responding to the floods through the Somalia Flood Acute JointResponse, a consortium project with Oxfam Novib as lead. The partners will together implement a comprehensive emergency response inthe most affected areas including Baidoa, Bardhera, Beletweyne, Jowhar and Kismayo. Interventions include activities in the sectorsof Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Health, Shelter/ Non-Food Items, Food Security and Multi-purpose Cash.
