Binti wa Pawa Project, will target the social norms that underpin FGM/C through non-judgemental, comprehensive a collective community engagement which is essential to eradicate the practice. The approach will be participatory, rights-based, strengthen engagement with community ‘gatekeepers be grounded in deep community knowledge and strong partnerships. AfyAfrika understands shifts in gender relations and how girls/women are valued is central to challenging social norms that hold FGM/C in place. Rights-based community-structured dialogues targeting all tiers led by a network of empowered champions will be supported, ‘Organise diffusion’ whereby participants in the community dialogues then share their knowledge a understanding systematically with others in their social networks. Tofurther advance the voices of girls, advocacy efforts will plug into a robust partnership with the media through radio talks/spots,social media and expert opinion campaigns to amplify positive stories change. The dialogues andparticipatory activities in the schools will enable young people become architects of their own lives and build resilience through life skills to cope with difficult situations in life. The education intervention is aimed at influencing the future generation to end-FGM/C and enhance gender equality.The End FGM Girls camps are interactive, and activities embody fun, interactive sessions, role modelling, and motivational – all designed to impact life skills, self-conceptualization, decision making, problemsolving, dialogue skills, and other skills that are critical as they enter their vulnerable teen years. Local females who grew up in similar communities but who were able to overcomes tobecome university students, policewomen, women chiefs, nurses, andteachers be invited to mentor the girls. Male ‘father and brother’ role models will also be invited to the girls appreciate the realities of relationships. The girls will share and learn about top issues such as careers, sexual reproductive health, relationships, and culture. The works on emotional well-being will provide psychosocial support and healing for survivors of FGM. The trained participants will be equipped with leadership and advocacy skills to help them share their stories in a supportive andvalidating environment. The workshop will observe necessary safeguarding standards to ensure dignity and rights of survivors are protected all times.
